Demi's EG.187 Podcast

Demi has been lighting up dancefloors worldwide for the better part of the last decade. Whether he’s performing at the biggest global festivals, opening up for some of the planet’s most influential DJs or headlining marathon sets deep in the caverns of the underground, or globetrotting with fellow rogue sonic warrior Omid 16B under their SOS guise, the desire to create a positively sonic experience has kept his fire burning more than any award, nomination or adulation that has come his way over the years.

His humble beginnings stem back to his days at university, and soon after graduating he was the right person at the right time to take on a summer residency in 2000 at Double Six in Bali, Indonesia – a club that has gained a first-class reputation among premier DJs and travelling punters. Performing regular extended sets here helped him hone in on his skills as he developed a loyal following on the island.

Fast forward to 2002 and on a whim, Demi submitted a mix tape into Mixmag who along with Cream, ran a competition to find a new resident for the superclub. He was shortlisted to compete in the London regional finals. He went on to win this and feature in the finals at the club in Liverpool.

He is the man behind the infamous Deeper Substance & Substantially Deeper parties (2001-2004) that exposed his savvy work as a promoter; bringing talent from across the globe to some of London's intimate underground venues. The renowned Rhythm Factory venue was the location for the final show in 2004 and saw Demi and his team feature Groove Armada with a surprise cameo appearance by Gramma'Funk (lead vocals on some for their biggest worldwide hits to date. The epic finale in 2004, was a fitting way to conclude this early chapter in the young man's career.

Full of life and soul and in the eternal search of music heard & unheard of, this contagiously exuberant character continues to make an extraordinary impression on dancefloors the world over. His diversity and improvised style of DJ'ing in his performance is both consistent and memorable, always striving to create the whole picture whether over a 2 or 8 hour set and dictates his sets with the ease of someone who was born to perform. His much publicized and spell-binding performances with Danny Tenaglia in NYC, Miami and London, along with certain key gigs touring with Pete Tong and performing with Laurent Garnier at Pacha, Ibiza, coupled with his beloved Deeper Substance residencies he held in London and in Toronto at Boa, earnt Demi international recognition with two separate nominations for `Best Newcomer` and `Breakthrough DJ` at the Pacha DJ Awards and UK House Music Awards.

The birth of Deeper Substance Records was to follow in 2005, and the first two releases ‘Gearbox’ and ‘D-Drive’ were an insight into his early workings as a producer. D-Drive was to be picked up by a host of DJ's and featured on several of the more mainstream mix compilations on the market. The track was also heavily supported by Pete Tong who featured it on an Essential Mix live broadcast and subsequent shows on the Essential Selection. Demi was asked to contribute to a David Bowie remix project with LA based producer Trifactor . Their take of ‘Let’s Dance’ was featured on a specially commissioned release of Bowie remixes.
Demi has since formed another vital part of the A+R team for Sexonwax Recordings.

For the last few years, Demi’s focus has been on the SOS Collective - In it's present format, both Demi and Omid 16B. -Locked tight to a positive feedback loop, their self-religion is inspiring to all, as anybody who experiences their live shows will testify. From their infamous boat parties in London & Ibiza to sellout WMC marathon sessions in Miami, along with a 3hr Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 (a first since its inception) to add to their acclaimed triple disc opus mix for Balance on EQ Recordings in 2008. This timeless piece demonstrated musical synergy at its force, and forever etched its mark on dance music's legacy.

Their energy-fuelled quarterly residency held at Ministry of Sound in London since 2007 inspired SOS to embark on their follow-up project which featured one mix recorded live at the venue whilst the second CD showcased brand new productions and unreleased remix material from SOS. Their sonic blueprint was previewed to the world in February 2010 on a double-CD compilation for Ministry Of Sound. The album saw critical acclaim from the music press and was named ‘Compilation of the Month’ in both DJ Magazine and Tillate. DJ magazine were to give the trio the prestigious front cover feature in their 2010 New Year issue.

At present, Demi is channelling all his love and devotion towards the recordings of the debut album as SOS for a sonic assault on the masses in 2011. This will also include a very special mix project with Omid 16B to relaunch Alola Records which was a vinyl only deep house pioneering label of the 90's and early 00's.
Sponsored and armed by industry giants such as Pioneer, Ableton, Roland and Native Instruments, expect to be given what you need, not necessarily what you expect. The Journey continues...
